Born and raised in Cape Town, she ventured to Johannesburg in 2009 with big dreams, like many Capetonians, determined to progress in life. Amidst the challenges of working for someone else, Shamiela discovered a deeper calling—a desire to be her own boss and create a community that uplifts women.

Turning Setbacks into Stepping Stones

Almost a year and a half ago, Shamiela took a monumental risk that would change everything. After investing in a business venture that didn’t go as planned, her kindness and generosity were taken advantage of. Even in the midst of heartbreak, she found strength in the support of her partner—who, at the time, stood by her through thick and thin. This difficult chapter fueled her determination rather than breaking her spirit.

Today, the bar isn’t just a place to get pampered; it’s a community where every customer is greeted by name, and every visit feels like coming home.

Even while planning her wedding and navigating life’s ups and downs, she made it a priority to ensure her staff felt appreciated and empowered.

Thanks to the unwavering support of her community and the unexpected boost from social media, Shamiela has boldly stepped into a new chapter. Despite her admitted lack of brand marketing expertise, she refused to give up. Leaving her previous job to devote herself fully to her passion, she has sparked interest from TikTokers and even celebrity singer Karen, marking a period of rapid growth and exciting expansion plans. Soon, #The Blow & Nail Bar will evolve into #The Hair & Nail Bar, further broadening its horizons.

She was my first big order ever—and that’s why The Celebration of People Charity Event is so important. Not only does it honor the journey of relentless pursuit, but it also features her generous participation by providing her services.
