This is such an inspiring journey! After years of hardships, joy, heartache, success, and endless ups and downs, I can finally say that I’m here. Today, I stand with gratitude, pride, and excitement, knowing that the lessons, the pain, and the struggle were all worth it. I am proud to introduce you to SARFA Creative Academy, now officially open for orders—Fresh in Jozi. A home-based, startup business that was born from overcoming fear, doubts, and the unrelenting pursuit of a better life.

The Struggles That Brought Me Here
Let me take you back a little bit. I moved to Jozi almost a year ago, thinking a new city would bring new opportunities. Yet, I found myself jobless for what seemed like forever. No matter how many applications I sent out, how hard I tried, nothing seemed to work. The frustration and despair crept in, making me question my worth and my abilities. But that wasn’t the end of my story.
I eventually found a temp position in a salon, but even that wasn’t the answer I was looking for. Though I was grateful, I found myself spiraling into depression, feeling trapped and uncertain. I’d always been independent, always striving to give my kids a better future, but this journey was testing me in ways I never imagined.
A Wake-Up Call
Then came the turning point. I took a step back—no, I took a million steps back—to try and understand what was really happening. I prayed, I cried, and I broke down. But somewhere deep inside, I knew it was time to do something different.
The spark of inspiration hit me like a thunderbolt. I realized I had all this knowledge, all this understanding of the world around me. So, I asked myself, “What do you really want?” And that’s when it all clicked. I took the leap into studying harder than ever, diving deep into the world of branding, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
And just like that, SARFA Creative Academy was born—a business that celebrates authenticity, ethnic traditions, and the rich Cape Malay culture. From the depths of my soul, I knew this was my calling.
The Journey to Fresh in Jozi
Fresh in Jozi is my new baby, and while it started small, it’s packed with passion and purpose. I used everything I had to get this far, including the government unemployment SASSA fund. It wasn’t easy. It still isn’t. But last week, something incredible happened. The owner of the very salon where I once worked as a temp—The Blow & Nail Bar—placed the biggest order I’ve ever received. She believed in me and my journey, and her support ignited a fire in me that can’t be put out.
A huge shoutout to The Blow & Nail Bar and their amazing team! This salon doesn’t just provide top-notch services; it creates a space where you truly feel at home. The love and respect they’ve shown me have given me the strength to keep pushing forward.
Moving Forward with Hope
Although my business is still small, I am determined. With every order, every piece of content I create, and every connection I make, I’m building something bigger. I don’t have much yet, but I will. I am manifesting my success. The road ahead is long, but I’m no stranger to hard work. Every day brings new opportunities to grow, improve, and make an impact.
Being at The Blow & Nail Bar has opened doors for me in ways I never imagined. I’m not just growing my business; I’m also learning how to brand and market it. I’m diving deep into content creation, customer engagement, and building relationships with my community. The best is yet to come!
Why I Do This
More than anything, I want to make a difference. I want to show my children what resilience and hard work look like. I want them to be proud of the journey I’m taking and the lessons I’m learning. I’m doing this not just for me, but for every dreamer out there who’s ready to take that leap of faith.
